Abuse

The law is there to protect you and expects anyone looking after you to make sure you are safe. If you are being hurt by anyone - at home, school, in a youth group or anywhere else - that person is breaking the law. And it is not your fault.

Most adults will try to help you if you tell them about abuse you might be suffering. The social work department at your local council and the police have a duty to check if they think children are in danger or being abused.

If you do not want to give your name but do want to speak to someone about what is happening, you could call ChildLine free on 0800 1111. ChildLine will not pass on details of what you say unless they think you are in immediate danger. For more information visit www.childline.org.uk
