The Law Society of Scotland has created a new role to augment the existing team and is now seeking a commercially minded Outreach and Research Officer to play an integral role within the Member Services team. The post-holder will have significant responsibility for vital aspects of our work and will be expected to contribute significantly towards ensuring our member’s on-going access to outstanding CPD led conferences and seminars.

Working within the Member Services for CPD team, the Outreach and Research Officer will have responsibility for two main areas: to liaise both internally and externally with stakeholders as part of their brief to remain conversant with legal developments, requirements and training needs; and to research and write content and materials for LSS CPD courses for members in a thoughtful and intelligent way.

The successful applicant will need to be able to demonstrate a combination of attributes and skills including but not confined to: intellectual curiosity/ research skills, relationship building (internally and externally), sector analysis, copy-writing and team work.

You will be tasked with developing and writing the content for CPD accredited events and seminars throughout the year. Fundamentally, your role is to understand what topics the Society should be running events on, and to create conference/training agendas around those topics. The content should be pertinent, concise, timeous and most of all compelling to our members.  Your colleagues in the Member Services for CPD team will then manage most aspects of the event production, though there will be times when you will be expected to assist with event production tasks.

The role is ideally suited to a confident, intelligent self-starter who is looking for an opportunity to take ownership of a key activity within a wider team and work within that team to ensure success.

Candidates will possess a relevant degree, and be able to demonstrate their relationship building and communications skills. The post involves some occasional out of office hours and occasional overnight stays. A full driving license is essential.
