The Law Society of Scotland has recently published its new strategy, Leading Legal Excellence. Through this strategy, the legal policy team aims to communicate the views of our members and the clients they serve and to influence the creation of a fairer and more just society by being an international centre of excellence in thought leadership.
The legal policy team has a vacancy for a Policy Executive .This role will take lead responsibility for supporting legal policy committees relating to criminal law, criminal legal aid, licencing and other policy areas. This work will see the successful applicant engaging with stakeholders in Scotland, the UK and Europe on legislative and policy developments across a range of practice areas and issues.
Candidates will possess a relevant degree, have highly developed oral and written skills, have an understanding of Parliamentary procedure and the Scottish legal system and be able to understand / explain complex issues clearly and precisely. An understanding of the legal aid system in Scotland would be desirable.
Candidates must be competent in the use of Microsoft word and have the ability to work both independently and as part of a motivated team, capable of working across numerous projects simultaneously.
