The winner of the Annual New Lawyers Essay Competition 2014 was Edinburgh law student David Gallagher. You can read his prize winning essay here. The prize is a three-week paid work placement courtesy of the Scottish Parliament, and £500 cash prize courtesy of the Law Society of Scotland. The essay question was as follows:
