Society's new Chief Executive returns to her Scottish roots
Lorna Jack starts today (Monday, January 5) as the new chief executive of the Law Society of Scotland.
Lorna, a chartered accountant, originally from Fraserburgh, returned to Scotland after spending six years in Boston as President Americas for Scottish Development International, part of Scottish Enterprise.
She said: “I can’t think of a better time to return to Scotland with the focus on Homecoming and returning to our roots. Scotland is my home and has always been in my heart The time was right for me to return.
“This is a period of unparalleled change for the Society and for the legal profession and I’m looking forward to working with the staff and council of the Society in leading the profession.”
Lorna’s first few weeks will be spent meeting key people in the legal profession and civic Scotland.
She added: “This is a challenging and exciting time to help lead the Society through the next stage of its journey. It’s a terrific opportunity for me and there is much to do.”
Richard Henderson, president of the Law Society, said: “Lorna has a considerable track record in promoting the interests of Scotland's business community. I am confident that she will use her talents to benefit one of Scotland's important and distinctive economic sectors.
