Client care

High professional standards are a priority for solicitors and staff of every firm. The Society has put in place a number of initiatives to support the profession in maintaining standards.

The booklet, Standards for Scottish Solicitors, published in January 2009 to coincide with the publication of the revised standards of conduct and service, is a valuable tool for training both professional and non-professional staff.

The consolidated Solicitors (Scotland) Practice Rules 2011 now replace the 2008 rules referred to, but do not alter the import of the guidance.

Guidance on the terms of letters of engagement, style internal complaints processes, FAQs and other material is available online. Personal input from Society staff in the professional practice and professional support teams is freely available to all members.

Additional initiatives to support the profession both individually and in business are always under consideration and are referred to elsewhere in the professional support pages.

Practical skills workshops

Interactive workshops can be arranged for faculties or firms in respect of client care techniques, anti money-laundering rules and regulations, data protection issues etc. If you have any queries or would like to oranise a workshop, please get in touch.
