Tribute to Lord Fraser of Carmyllie

24 June 2013 | tagged News release

Bruce Beveridge, President of the Law Society of Scotland, has paid tribute to Lord Fraser of Carmyllie.

He said: "Lord Fraser was someone of immense stature within the legal profession. He was a knowledgeable, highly capable and extremely dedicated individual who played a central role in the administration of our justice system, not least in his roles as Solicitor General and Lord Advocate, during which time he was responsible for the Lockerbie investigation.

"Lord Fraser was a great public servant who upheld the highest values in public life and conducted himself without fear or favour. He was also a thoughtful, very personable man who had a great sense of humour and was loved and admired by many from the legal profession and across the political spectrum. He will be very much missed and we offer our sincere condolences to his family and friends."
