Law Society welcomes new Scottish Law Commission chair

The Law Society of Scotland has today, 10 January, welcomed the appointment of the Honourable Lord Pentland as Chairman of the Scottish Law Commission.

Bruce Beveridge, President of the Law Society of Scotland, said:

"The Society would like to warmly congratulate Lord Pentland on his appointment as Chairman of the Scottish Law Commission.

"The Commission carries out extremely valuable work in legal reform and policy.

"Lord Pentland's experience at the Bar and on the Bench are both well recognised and highly regarded by the Scottish solicitors' profession. The range of both his legal skills and his wider experience make him ideally suited to lead the Scottish Law Commission.

"The Society works closely with Commission and we very much look forward to working with Lord Pentland during his tenure."
