Discharge of Training Contract
At the end of the two year period, training contracts must be discharged. A standard form of discharge is available from the Society either by
e-mail or by written request.
It is easy to overlook this final stage. However, no solicitor is entitled to a full Practising Certificate until the training contract has been discharged. The Professional Competence Course (Core and Elective modules) must be completed by this stage, and all Quarterly Performance Reviews must be up-to-date. As the discharge document must be signed by the training solicitor, it is easiest to have it completed while still employed by that solicitor, rather than some years down the line when people have moved on.
