Shaping the Future of Legal Education - Research and Background
This section provides background information on the thinking and work behind the original consultation, "Shaping the Future of Legal Education", and the specific projects that underpin it. Over a period of two years, the Society gained feedback in a variety of formats. Sources used ranged from the formal (for example, a conference focussing on the Diploma with results of votes and focus groups recorded, or our collection and analysis of details on the operation of training regimes in other jurisdictions) to the informal (for example, collections of newspaper and journal articles on various education issues).
Each of the documents below gives the background to a specific area of training. The Society would like to express its thanks to all of those who served on working parties and committees, contributed thoughts and ideas and who invested considerable time and resources in making the original consultation one of the largest and most important exercises ever undertaken by the Society. Those involved are noted in each of the documents.
