IS DEBATING FOR ME?

Why don’t you find out!

There’s no doubt that some people are ‘natural debaters’ (we’ve all met them!), but we’re also confident that debating is a skill that can be learnt AND that learning to debate builds on skills you undoubtedly already have. That’s why we believe, that with the help of this website and the learning materials we provide, anyone can confidently take part in a formal debate.

You have already learnt how to analyse data, construct coherent arguments, and put them effectively across in the various subjects you will have been studying at school. For example in English class you write discursive essays and in your language classes you might well have done an oral exam during which you were asked to share your views on a given topic.

With the support of these materials we hope that lots of you out there who have not yet tried debating will give it a go, not just to make sure we have an able next generation of lawyers and politicians, but because these are skills that help everyone and can be developed in a format which is fun and enjoyable.

If you use these materials in a class or schools setting to develop your skills we will be delighted, and if you enjoy it – why not enter our tournament.
