The Public Interest - Delivering Scottish Legal Services

CPD: 3 hours (Management)

The Public Interest - Delivering Scottish Legal Services is a major conference which the Law Society is holding on Friday 28th September to provide a platform for debate about Alternative Business Structures of legal firms.

It follows the Society’s successful event in London in June with solicitors working south of the border.

The Society is keenly aware that there are a number of interests which must be carefully balanced, including access to justice, competition in the legal services market and consumer protection.

The proposed reforms in the Legal Services Bill in England & Wales include a number of different proposals and business models which have sparked the debate in Scotland.

The Society has been raising the debate to find out what firms themselves would like to see develop and to ensure that whatever changes are made to legislation and practice rules in Scotland, these competing interests are taken into account.

The conference will take place at the Weston Link, National Gallery of Scotland, at 10am on Friday September 28, registration from 9.30am.
