As you will know the Rules known as the Solicitors (Scotland) (Practice Management Course) Practice Rules 1997, require any new partner or principal to attend a Practice Management Course within twelve months of becoming a partner or principal.
Format and content of the course has now been re-developed and we have taken on many of the thoughts and structure passed to us from previous delegates feedback. For all new partners, the duration of the course will be reduced down to one full compulsory day on a Friday, and one optional day on the Saturday. Please note full details of the programme and a booking form will automatically be issued to all new partners in September. Fees are outlined below.
Course Format
The Friday will cover regulatory aspects such as accounts rules, money laundering, partnership accounts, client relations, Master Policy and management issues such as people management, ethics and risk management. In additional to the course all attendees will also receive a ‘Management Pack’ which will include key aspects of advice once becoming a partner. The Saturday will consist of management workshops focusing on leadership skills. The course is essentially a practical one and is designed to help new partners and principals in the proper management and control of their practice.
All delegates are invited to an optional informal dinner on the Friday evening, whether residential or not, enabling you to network with your peers and have the opportunity to speak with Society office bearers.
