Graham Matthews

Graham is the current President of the Society.

He qualified as a solicitor in 1979. After an apprenticeship in Musselburgh, Graham returned to his native Aberdeenshire in January 1981 to take up an assistant post in Inverurie and never left, having now occupied the same office and same desk for 35 years.

He joined the Law Society’s Council in 2005 and has sat on and convened many committees and working parties before being elected Vice President for 2016/2017 in December.

Graham is enthusiastic about the legal profession and particularly high street practice and all it entails, including legal aid, access to justice and education.

His interests outside law include learning to ride, ballroom dancing, family, music, fast cars and bikes.

Alison Atack

Alison Atack is a partner at Lindsays and has detailed knowledge and experience of private client work, including succession planning and agricultural property. She joined the Society’s Council in May 1998 representing solicitors in Glasgow and Strathkelvin and has also been a member of the Regulatory Committee and is the current convener of the Client Protection Sub-Committee.

Eilidh Wiseman

Eilidh was first elected to our Council in August 2009 and was re-elected in 2011 and 2014 as one of the representatives for the Edinburgh constituency.

She has previously served on the Employment Law Sub-Committee and on two re-accreditation sub-committees of the Education & Training Committee. She currently sits on the editorial board of the Journal.

Born and raised in a rural community in south west Scotland, Eilidh has a good understanding of the issues and concerns of members living and working in our more remote areas.

However, much of her professional career has been spent at in the larger commercial practices. Before retiring in 2014, she held the position of partner and UK head of employment and pensions law team at Dundas & Wilson and previously sat on the firm’s Board.

Outside of her professional life, Eilidh is an enthusiastic golfer, a bookworm, novice bridge player and very slow jogger. She has two sons, Tom and Matthew, and two working cocker spaniels, Lola and Belle.
