Career development roadshows for NQs

What direction do you want to progress your career in as an NQ? Do you know where you want to go? Do you know how you're going to get there? Are you familiar with what your options are?

There are lots of questions to consider when you're thinking about carving out your career. To help you consider these and hopefully get some answers, we're running a series of career development roadshows for NQs which are completely free of charge to attend.

Any NQs between 0-5 years PQE are eligible to attend.

Where are the roadshow events taking place?

We have scheduled events across Scotland, so you can attend at a venue close to you.

Please note all events take place 6-8pm. A selection of drinks and light nibbles are provided.

Aberdeen: Tuesday 7 November, Park Inn by Radisson
Edinburgh: Thursday 9 November, Law Society of Scotland's Offices
Dundee: Tuesday 14 November, Discovery Point

Who are the speakers?

We will be inviting speakers to attend who have taken a variety of career paths, to allow you to get a breadth of information, expertise and inspiration.

Each event will see a panel made of local speakers with job titles/skills like Partner, Accredited Specialist, Dual-qualified, Solicitor Advocate etc.

Our speakers are still being finalised, but those confirmed so far are:

Aberdeen

Dean Purdie, Partner, DJP Solicitors
Elaine Farquharson-Black, Partner and Accredited Specialist in Planning Law, Burness Paull

Dundee

What's the format of the event?

These events are designed to be laid-back and informative sessions. First, get a drink on arrival and go into some informal networking groups to get to know your colleagues better. Then, we will have a Q&A discussion with the panel of guest speakers, during which you can get your questions answered. Finally there will be the opportunity to have more drinks and the chance to network, to chat to collegaues and speakers more personally.
