The Law Society cannot provide legal advice, but we can help you find a solicitor. You can search by the type of work you need carried out or search for a solicitor close to where you live. We can also trace any law firm in Scotland past and present. For instance, you might be looking for legal files for a firm that has closed or moved.
The Law Society is also responsible for regulating Scottish solicitors and setting standards. You can find out more about what consumer protections are available and and how legal fees should be calculated.
Occasionally, clients feel that their solicitor has not provided a service to the standards set out above. This section outlines how you can go about making a complaint against a solicitor.
We are committed to shaping the law for the benefit of all, commenting on Bills going through the legislative process and government consultations (Scottish, UK and European).
We will always try to help you with your enquiries. You can read more about our service standards in the About us section.
