15 hours verifiable CPD + 5 hours private study

Over the course of 5 weeks, delegates will learn the legal and practical basics of management, coaching, nurturing individuals and building high-performing teams. Through a variety of presentations, short videos, role play exercises, focus group and plenary discussions, we’ll cover the knowledge and skills needed to handle key issues within your team, including conduct, coaching and improving performance, managing absence, avoiding discrimination, and a great deal more.

We’ll combine theoretical and practical training, so there will be interaction and exercises for delegates to participate in and practice applying their new skills in an inclusive environment.  Let us build your confidence in dealing with these issues at their root. This will help you to manage business risks before they become more onerous. Further, knowing that any arising issues will be handled fairly and reasonably by management will result in happier team members. This course will attract a mixed delegate pool from across the legal industry meaning there will be great opportunities for peer-to-peer learning and networking,

Course Components

Introduction to Management
Learning the key elements of management and coaching; understanding what they aim to achieve and how they apply to delegates in their working lives.

Norming, Forming and Storming
Learning how to set team direction and incorporating values.  Delegates will learn and develop the skills required to lead teams and apply those to practical scenarios.

Legal Fundamentals of Management
This session will focus on identifying and understanding legal obligations and risks around issues of conduct, capability and performance. Expect plenty of role play to put ideas into practice.

Equality at Work
Develop your understanding around equality and discrimination considerations at work, including conversations and exercises looking at protected characteristics, equity and fairness, taking reasonable steps to avoid discrimination and promoting equality within your teams.

Putting Theory into Practice
A session focusing on role playing scenarios, group activity, plenary discussion and feedback. Put what you have learned to the test, ask questions in a safe controlled environment.  This is the place to make and share mistakes, while learning from them.

The assignment will provide a case study exercise to allow you to reflect on what you have learned on the course and set out how you will implement the knowledge you have gained in practical terms.  It will be distributed during the course and due to be submitted online at the end of the course.
