Rule B1.5: Proper instructions

1.5.1 You are the agent of your client and must have the authority of your client for your actings. You must not accept improper instructions, for example to assist a client in a matter which you know to be criminal or fraudulent, but you may properly advise on the legal consequences of a proposed course of action or on the scope or application of the law to particular circumstances.

1.5.2 You may decline to accept new instructions, whether from a new or established client, without giving a reason for doing so, provided the refusal to act is not motivated by discrimination in breach of rule 1.15.
