Elizabeth Rose
I qualified as a solicitor in 2012 and aside from a brief stint in mental health law, practiced in personal injury. In 2017, I began to specialise in medical negligence law and went on to run a medical negligence team exclusively acting for claimants.
Then, in 2018, for the first time I was put in the client’s shoes, after facing my own medical legal situation. Being in this vulnerable position made me re-evaluate the client journey. What I realised is that the medical negligence claims process was lengthy and complicated and could feel overwhelming. I felt that more could be done to make legal services more accessible and that we could improve the client care journey. I wanted to focus on the client’s wellbeing more and remove the barriers that clients can face in the legal process. This was the motivation I needed to create L&M MediLaw.
I was lucky enough to be supported in this ambition by Levy and McRae Solicitors, an excellent litigation firm who helped make this happen. In 2021, I was accredited as a specialist in Medical Negligence Law by the Law Society of Scotland and in early 2022 we launched L&M MediLaw, a medical negligence legal service, providing expert legal care in a way that does not add to the client’s trauma. I am passionate about providing an accessible legal service with a focus on good digital educational content and resources to support our clients via our you tube channel, socials and website. We regularly campaign on medical legal issues, particularly in relation to patient autonomy and patient advocacy.
