Tony Fitzpatrick
Tony Fitzpatrick has a police background where he received 18 police commendations relating to the investigation of serious crimes such as murder, rape and kidnap.
In 2006 to expand personal development he transferred into the Serious organised Crime Agency (SOCA) to lead intelligence units with an international reach. He became Officer in Overall Command of a number of Multi-agency taskforces where a number of successful drug and human trafficking interdictions were achieved.
He went on to work in CEOP protecting children and then head of operations for the UK Human Trafficking Centre. He has therefore seen at first hand the serious harm caused to the most vulnerable people in society.
He has worked in the United Kingdom Financial Intelligence Unit (UKFIU) for nearly 9 years. He led the Defence Against Money Laundering Team and is currently the Head of UKFIU Liaison and Engagement. His key aim is help improve the quality of SARs and at the same time help best exploit the intelligence that SARs offer.
Tony is well placed to recognise the value of the information in SARs. Financial intelligence has helped him and his colleagues to solve murders, rescue victims of child abuse, slavery and confiscate proceeds of crime from serious organised criminals.
