Baublefest — All we want for Christmas is to support the next generation of Scottish legal talent

2nd December 2025

With the advent of December, the Lawscot Foundation has launched its annual Christmas campaign to support future legal talent from less-advantaged backgrounds.

Donors can purchase a bauble for the Baublefest tree in the Law Society of Scotland’s Edinburgh office, as well as inviting friends, family and colleagues to fill the virtual tree in time for it to light up for the holidays.

Ally Thomson, Chair of the Lawscot Foundation’s Fundraising Committee, said: "Baublefest is a landmark event for us. We would encourage all members of the profession who can to get into the spirit because every donation helps making a difference in shaping the next generation of Scotland’s legal profession.

"This year, as well as looking for individual one-off donations, we are also inviting firms to donate a recommended monthly amount of £100 for one year."

Patricia Thom, President of the Law Society of Scotland, said: "It is an honour to be one of the first people to sponsor a bauble. This year’s festive fundraiser theme, 'Present talent, future legal stars', highlights the huge potential of the students the Foundation supports, and the vital role donors play in shaping the future of Scotland’s legal profession.

"We think the campaign reflects the incredible promise of the students we support."

You can track our fundraising progress by following our social media channels to keep updated with our virtual Baublefest tree.

Donations can be made on the Lawscot Foundation website.
