COMPASS CHAMBERS, welcomes Ross Crawford, Donald Mackay and Rebecca Osborne after their call to the bar. 

JOHNSTON CARMICHAEL, has promoted Keith Hamilton to general counsel, as well as recently appointing Neil Godsman as governance risk and compliance manager, as well as legal assistant Catherine Hamilton.

BURGES SALMON, has announced the appointment of Magnus Miller as a partner in its dispute resolution team, based in Edinburgh. 

ROYAL COLLEGE OF PSYCHIATRISTS, has announced the Dr Joseph Morrow, the Lord Lyon King of Arms will receive honorary fellowship.

AXIOM, has announced the appointment of Gavin Walker KC as its new stable director and chairman.

JUST EMPLOYMENT LAW, has appointed Fiona Gorry as the firm’s head of litigation. Lauren Wilson has been promoted to associate.

WRIGHT JOHNSTON & MACKENZIE LLP (WJM), has announced that Beth Fleming is now a legal director. Zoe Hayward and Rebecca Dyer have been appointed in Inverness and Dunblane, respectively. Karen Wallace joins the private client team in Glasgow as an associate. Humairaa Jamal joins the commercial property team in Edinburgh.

WESTWATER ADVOCATE, has announced that Morag McEwan has joined having been called to the bar. Specialising in family law and child law, she is experienced in litigation arising from the breakdown of relationships and in cases involving high net worth individuals and complex assets including partnerships, trusts and companies.

OPTIMUM ADVOCATES, has welcomed Martin Lennon, Mairi-Claire McMillan, Linzi McQuade and Iona Young.

FACULTY OF ADVOCATES, has announced that Tony Lenehan KC has been elected as the new vice-dean.

HARPER MACLEOD, has promoted 35 lawyers, including seven new partners and seven senior associates. The seven new partners are:

  • Amy Mackenzie – corporate, commercial and regulatory (Glasgow)
  • Andrew Kerr – Commercial property (Inverness)
  • Annabelle Gow – private client (Elgin)
  • Ashley Fleming – immigration (Glasgow)
  • Calum Gee – dispute resolution (Edinburgh)
  • Catriona Kemp – public sector real estate, RSLS & infrastructure (Edinburgh)
  • Lewis Hendry – renewable energy (Glasgow)

The seven new senior associates:

  • Adam de Ste Croix – dispute resolution (Glasgow)
  • Christina Wason – personal injury and reparation (Glasgow)
  • Grant Hassan – family (Inverness)
  • Kate Gillies – HM Connect (Glasgow)
  • Laura Ann Sheridan – personal injury and reparation (Glasgow)
  • Laura Meldrum – HM Connect (Glasgow)
  • Lyndsay McMahon – debt and asset recovery (Glasgow)

Additionally, a further 10 lawyers have been promoted to associate, and 11 to senior solicitor.

STRONACHS LLP, has announced the promotion of four senior solicitors, Patrick Norris (corporate/energy), Amy Breen (commercial property), Hazel Grant (dispute resolution) and Jonathan Wemyss (dispute resolution) to associate. Sarah McPherson has been appointed as associate and Michelle Dargie joins as marketing manager.

MUNRO & NOBLE SOLICITORS, has promoted Michael Cockburn to senior solicitor having started his professional journey in 2020 as trainee solicitor. 

MORTON FRASER MACROBERTS, has announced its first round of promotions since merging which totals 27. The breakdown of promotions is, nine in corporate & commercial, six in litigation, five in real estate, four in private client and three in construction & projects. 

MACKINLAY & SUTTIE SOLICITORS, has now become part of MM Legal.

GILSON GRAY, has announced its annual promotions, so far totalling 18. Callum Sutherland now leads new business and home-buying at the firm’s residential conveyancing arm. Fraser Cameron has also been appointed to legal director for the litigation team. These promotions follow on from Emma Bradbury being named chief operating officer at Gilson Gray Financial Management. 

AMPERSAND ADVOCATES, has announced that Julian Ghosh KC has joined. His expertise expands to corporate law, European taxation issues, judicial review, and administrative law.

ABERDEIN CONSIDINE, has appointed new senior associate Laurie Anderson. Laurie is accredited as a specialist in employment law by the Law Society of Scotland.

BLACKADDERS LLP, has promoted Claire Ogston to partner and head of the residential property unit.

THORNTONS, has announced that Jacqueline Moore has been promoted to partner.

MIDDLETON ROSS, has announced that Karen MacGregor is to join as a senior associate, effective 1 July 2024.
