RAEBURN CHRISTIE CLARK & WALLACE LLP (RCCW), has promoted Sarah Innes to associate solicitor. Sarah is based in the Stonehaven office, and originally joined the firm in 2012 as a property assistant.

THORNTONS, has welcomed 16 new trainee solicitors to its graduate programme across its Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee, St Andrews, Perth and Angus offices.The trainees are Katie Brown, Rachel Murphy, Daisy Johnston, Freja Nilsson, Laura Minto, Jenni Millar, Jack Chapman, Zara Balling, Cara Collins, Malcolm Marshall, Ross Drysdale, Dean McCombie, Heather Harden, Sophie Fairweather, Milli Datta, and Rachael Hannah.

COMPASS CHAMBERS, has welcomed Gavin Anderson KC back to practice after serving as a full-time advocate depute in the Crown Office since 2021.

BRODIES LLP, has announced the appointment of banking and finance partner James Wilson to the firm. James has spent more than two decades in practice, having worked in London, Brussels and Sydney, with clients in the US, Australia, Malaysia, China, Indonesia and the UK.

HAMILTONS LAW ACCOUNTANTS, welcomes two new trainees, Ciara McKinley and Craig McLennan.

JONES WHYTE, has welcomed 12 new first-year trainee solicitors to its 2024 intake.

GILDEAS SOLICITORS, has appointed Emma Thomson as a director. 

BLACKADDERS LLP, has recruited seven new trainees. The new trainees are Amy Richardson (dispute resolution, Edinburgh), Ben Harvey (employment, Aberdeen and Dundee), David Kaye (family, Dundee), Kirsty Martin (private client, Edinburgh), Mark Hanzely (residential and private client, Aberdeen), Megan Allan (rural, Edinburgh) and Reece Jamieson (residential, Glasgow).

SCOTCH WHISKEY ASSOCIATION (SWA), has appointed Sophie Airth as a legal counsel, where she will join its team of five lawyers and two paralegals.

WRIGHT, JOHNSTON & MACKENZIE LLP (WJM), has announced a number of promotions. In the Glasgow office, promotees include Carol Baxter, Angus Rutherford and Thomas Fairbairn. Olivia Finnie and Patricia Gillen join as commercial property trainees in Glasgow. Cameron Watson will be a part of the same office in the private client team and Deborah Nicol joins as a trainee in private client in Edinburgh.

STRONACHS LLP, has welcomed its latest intake of trainees and announced the recruitment of three solicitors who will qualify in September. Lucy MacLeod and Euan Munro bolster the corporate team and Emily Bryne joins the employment team, all as NQs.

GILLESPIE MACANDREW, has appointed five newly qualified solicitors, each of whom has completed their two-year legal traineeship programme. The newly qualified solicitors are Jenny Purdie specialising in private client, Jenna Wayth in construction dispute resolution, Thomas Anderson in land & rural business, Jamie Carson in commercial property, and Jack Cuthbertson in energy & strategic land.
