Lawscot Foundation applications open for law student support

30th April 2026

The Lawscot Foundation has opened its 2026 round of applications offering financial and other forms of support to aspiring law students facing socioeconomic barriers.

Applications have opened as the charity celebrates 10 years supporting social mobility in Scotland’s legal professions.

Two categories of support are offered by the foundation to students who meet the eligibility criteria, including having an offer to begin studying a Scots law LLB later this year.

Successful bursary students will receive an annual payment during their studies alongside mentoring, networking and work experience, while a second category provides for mentoring and professional development opportunities.

Lawscot Foundation spokesperson Amber Shadle said: “Over the past 10 years we’ve supported more than 100 students who’ve overcome significant challenges to study Scots law. We’re now looking to assist a new cohort of talented young people.

“To students who have accepted a place to study Scots law at university but feel their circumstances are holding them back, I’d strongly encourage you to apply for scholarship support from the Foundation.

“Our programme supports students to navigate their studies and helps them to take their next steps into fulfilling legal careers. Anyone with talent and determination can succeed in the legal sector, regardless of their background or financial circumstances."

Applications must be submitted by 12 pm on Monday 29 June 2026
