On 15th March 2026, Alastair John McKie, formerly partner and latterly employee of the firm Anderson Strathern LLP, Edinburgh.

In a letter to the firm and Alastair's colleagues, Law Society of Scotland President Patricia Thom expressed the organisation's sincerest condolences.
Alastair was Convener of the Planning Law Committee for six years and a member of the committee for another two years.
Patricia said: "During his time on the committee, he coordinated comments on numerous parliamentary Bills, led on many consultation responses, and represented the Society and the Scottish legal profession at several parliamentary meetings.
He represented the Society with passion and professionalism building our reputation with Scottish Government and key stakeholders as a trusted organisation and authoritative voice on legal and policy matters.
His knowledge, commitment and exuberance earned him the respect of all those he worked with along the way.
