Watch: 'Ensuring those with talent to study law could do so' — Celebrating 10 years of supporting students and social mobility

9th February 2026 Written by: LawScot Foundation

The Lawscot Foundation is celebrating a major milestone in its mission to support aspiring solicitors facing socioeconomic barriers, as 2026 marks the charity’s 10th anniversary.

Established by the Law Society of Scotland in May 2016 as part of its work to ensure fair access to the legal profession, the Foundation has now supported more than 100 students over the past decade.

To mark the anniversary, the Lawscot Foundation will host a range of events and fundraising initiatives across 2026 to celebrate the charity’s work and the students it has supported over the past decade.

Chair of the Lawscot Foundation Christine McLintock said: “I am unbelievably proud of the students who have walked through our doors, many of whom are now qualified or in their traineeships. They show why the Foundation’s work matters and must continue.

“We set up the Foundation 10 years ago to ensure those with the talent to study law could do so, no matter their background. Our scholars, past and present, highlight why diverse voices enrich our workplaces and profession.

“It is with great thanks to our Law Society colleagues, volunteers, sponsors and keen supporters that the past decade has been possible. I am looking forward to celebrating with them all throughout the year.”
