The current solicitor general Ruth Charteris KC is to become Scotland's top law officer.
The first minister is recommending that the King appoints her to the position of Lord Advocate to replace Dorothy Bain, who is standing down, reports the BBC.

The Scottish Law Commission is delighted to announce that Lord Sandison has been appointed as Chair of the Scottish Law Commission. Lord Sandison succeeds Lady Paton who had served as Chair from 1 January 2019 and retired on 31 December 2025.
