Who are we?

19th January 2024

Last week we shared a little about the new approaches to the Journal and how excited we are to be bringing you something different this year.

So with that in mind, it is probably time you got to know us a little better.

Emma

Favourite biscuit: a bourbon or a jammy dodger!

I’m Emma. I’m the Client Engagement Director at Think, but my background is in (award-winning) print and digital content. Now I’m responsible for all aspects of the Journal and the relationship between us as a content marketing agency, the Society and you, its members. Whether it’s working with the Editor, Rebecca, on the content and the direction in which we’re wanting to take it, the metrics around its engagement, or the revenue and commercial avenues for growth, the success of this brand-new era for the Journal falls firmly on my shoulders and I couldn’t be more excited.

We might have launched with a different editorial approach (more commentary and analysis, less news) and new-look webpages, but we’re working on an exciting new chapter for the Journal hub design. ‘Contemporary’, ‘engaging’ and ‘interesting’ are just three of the adjectives I’d use to describe it. We want to improve your user journey and your experience on the site.

We want to create content that’s tailored to your interests, in a format you find most appealing, at a time you want to consume it. We hope you’ll engage with us in the process too. If you like what you see, then tell us; if you think it could be improved, then tell us too.

The days of just long-form articles are gone. We’re going digital presence, not just digital publication. It’s the time to be listening to an interview, watching a report’s findings come to life on screen, and engaging with us and colleagues on socials.

Nat

Hi there, I'm Nat and I manage Lawscot Jobs. I’ve only recently taken on the account, but it has been great so far.

I am quickly learning how positive the experience you have had with Lawscot Jobs is and I am looking forward to that continuing. You may have noticed some changes, and the changes don’t stop there as we will be making a few more as we continue to improve our clients’ and your overall experience at Lawscot Jobs.

I'm excited to continue to pair quality organisations with exceptional legal professionals. If you need any help or would like to discuss advertising any open positions, email me at nat.rose@thinkpublishing.co.uk

Ollie

I’m Oliver/Ollie. With a number of years working in the legal industry behind me, I currently serve as Commercial Partnership Manager to the Journal. I am dedicated to cultivating strategic alliances that advance the Society's mission to support and champion the legal community. My responsibilities encompass nurturing partnerships that bring tangible value to both the legal profession and our esteemed collaborators.

I am keen to expand my professional network and I look forward to forging valuable contacts in Scotland and with those looking to work with the Law Society of Scotland. I am passionate about developing collaborations that not only benefit our partners but also contribute to the growth and enhancement of the Society's initiatives, including the development of the Journal. Get in touch at oliver.smith@thinkpublishing.co.uk

Rebecca

Go to hot drink: black coffee

Favourite biscuit: a jaffa cake (yes, I know, it is technically a cake!)

I’m Rebecca, your new editor and I couldn’t be more proud or excited to be going on this new era of Journal content with you.

We have started the year with a change to some of the content, moving more into analysis and commentary, as Emma described. There are more changes to come over the next few weeks and months as we reshape the content and how you experience it… think new website and video/audio content. It is going to be a good year!

How would you describe me? Quite simply, I am an all-round legal geek and proud of it. Whether it is writing about legal developments, careers, legal technology or other topics affecting the profession, I am keen to bring you insightful, analytical and thought-provoking articles.

I have 14+ years of writing legal content behind me and have been shortlisted for law blogger of the year and Rising Star in Law. I have a broad network and am a champion for those embarking on legal careers. I am not shy about covering taboo topics or ones that are typically brushed under the carpet.

I aim to ensure you all feel represented in what we produce and, although it is impossible to cover every practice area every month, I aim to bring you content that I hope resonates with you either professionally or personally, wherever you are located and whatever your career stage.

I love hearing from you, and I hope to meet as many of you as possible over the coming months. If you have an idea for an article, would like to write for us or be interviewed, have insights you would like sharing, or would like to reply to an article, please get in touch at rebecca.morgan@thinkpublishing.co.uk
