Why Judicial Office for Scotland has taken to Instagram now

The Judicial Office for Scotland is now on Instagram.

The new social media account has been created to inform and educate the public about Scotland’s judicial office holders and their role and work within the justice system.

It will also offer updates from different departments within the Judicial Office, giving an insight into the support and services provided to the judiciary.

Launching just ahead of the installation of Lord Pentland as the new Lord President of the Court of Session, the account will provide photo and video content of the swearing-in ceremony and the start of his lordship’s tenure as Scotland’s most senior judge.

Lord Pentland said: “This new account offers an exciting opportunity to add to our existing social media presence and communicate about the role and work of the judiciary in a different way to a new audience.

“It will offer the public the chance to learn more about the roles of Judicial Office Holders and how the work they do assists individuals and society and upholds the rule of law.

“I would encourage anyone with an interest in Scotland’s justice system to view and follow the page to gain a better understanding of the role of judges and the work of the Judicial Office.”
