WORDSMITH,
Edinburgh-based legal AI startup has appointed Lucy Tyrrell as general counsel.

WEIGHTMANS, has welcomed Carolyn Morgan, formerly of Harper Macleod, as a new partner to its litigation team in Glasgow.

SHEPHERD AND WEDDERBURN, announced the appointment of Craig Whelton and Claire MacLean as partners.

HOLMES MACKILLOP, has promoted Finlay Swan to associate solicitor.

BLACK CHAMBERS, Keith Stewart KC (Lord Stewart of Dirleton) has returned to full-time practice, following four years serving as Advocate General for Scotland.

SCOTTISH HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION, Professor Angela O’Hagan has taken up appointment as chair.

BTO, announced the promotion of Michael Cox to partner in the corporate team based in Edinburgh.

PENSIONS APPEAL TRIBUNAL SCOTLAND, has appointed Andrew Webster KC as president ahead of the resignation of current president, Marion Caldwell KC.

LINDSAYS, has announced that eight new trainees have joined in various departments at offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee and Perth. They are:

  • Cheryl McDonald, residential conveyancing (Perth)
  • Evie Campbell, private client (Glasgow)
  • Kara Valentine, private client (Edinburgh)
  • Kathryn Short, personal injury (Glasgow)
  • Kirstie Cameron, private client (Dundee)
  • Rachel Lind, commercial property (Edinburgh)
  • Rebecca Nally, employment (Edinburgh)
  • Summer Meekison, private client (Perth)

The Court of the Lord Lyon, has made three promotions, and all three participated in both the funeral ceremonies of the late Queen Elizabeth II and the subsequent coronation of King Charles III.

- Sheriff George Way of Plean CStJ FRSA has been promoted to Rothesay Herald in Ordinary. 

- John Stirling WS, partner at Gillespie McAndrew and former clerk to the Signet, has been promoted to Ross Herald in Ordinary.

- Professor Gillian Black, of Edinburgh Law School and the Scottish Law Commission, has been promoted to Carrick Pursuivant in Ordinary.
