A2: Definitions and Interpretation

2.1 In these rules, unless stated to the contrary or the context otherwise requires, terms listed in the first column of Schedule 1 to these rules shall have the meanings respectively ascribed to them in the second column of Schedule 1.

2.2 The provisions of the Interpretation Act 1978 shall apply to these rules as they apply to an Act of Parliament.

2.3 Neither the headings to these rules nor the headings to the Schedules to these rules nor the Index at the start of the document containing these rules shall form part of these rules.

2.4 Unless the context otherwise requires, any reference in these rules to a:

(a) Section identified by a letter refers to the Section bearing that letter in these rules;

(b) numbered rule within a Section of these rules refers to the rule bearing that number in the same Section; or

(c) numbered Schedule refers to the Schedule bearing that number in the Schedules to these rules.
