Join us to learn more about depression

Depression varies from person to person and can happen for one or more reasons or in some circumstances there are no obvious reasons. People who are depressed can often feel that nothing can change or help their situation. However, most people recover from bouts of depression if they access the right support to help them get better. Join us to gain insights into depression: what it is, its causes, and the various treatment options available. The session will delve into maintaining wellbeing in high-stress roles, the wellbeing continuum and how to support others through kindness and understanding.

Session Content

  • Learn the definitions of mental health, wellbeing and the wellbeing continuum
  • Consider the Impact of stigma and discrimination
  • What is depression?
  • Learn about the causes and treatment of depression
  • Develop an understanding of wellbeing in high-stress roles
  • Discover how to supporting others through kindness and understanding

Please note there are a maximum of 50 places on this session

Speaker

This session will be delivered by Danny Quinn, Workplace Training Specialist for Scottish Action for Mental Health (SAMH). Celebrating over 100 years supporting mental health in Scotland, SAMH operates over 70 services in communities across Scotland and has a wealth of support resources on their website.  samh.org.uk
