Extended rights of audience granted to 11 new solicitor advocates

The Law Society of Scotland has granted extended rights of audience to 11 new solicitor advocates at a ceremony held at the Court of Session in Edinburgh on Friday, 14 February 2025.

In the first solicitor advocate ceremony of 2025, Law Society President Susan Murray invited Lady Haldane to administer the Declaration of Allegiance to the solicitor advocates.

Gaining extended rights of audience in the High Court and the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council are:

  • Craig Broadley, Beltrami & Co. Limited
  • Jane Caird, Caird & Vaughan
  • Mark Chambers, Tod & Mitchell
  • Miriam Clark, COPFS
  • John Coogan, COPFS
  • Adele MacDonald, COPFS
  • (Mohammed) Tanjeel Maleque, COPFS
  • Lee Qumsieh, Paterson Bell Limited
  • Anna Robertson, COPFS
  • Christy Ward, COPFS
  • William (Billy) Watt, Caird & Vaughan

Susan Murray said:  “I am delighted to be back at Parliament House today to celebrate the hard work of the Law Society of Scotland’s newest group of Solicitor Advocates.

“I know that it is never easy juggling professional and personal responsibilities while taking on an intense schedule of exams, assessments, and training.

“Our new Solicitor Advocates should all be immensely proud of their achievements, and I look forward to seeing them embark on this next exciting stage of their legal careers. Congratulations all!”

Becoming a Solicitor Advocate

Solicitor advocates are solicitors who have been granted extended rights of audience before the higher courts in Scotland.
