Find out how you can support the next generation of Scottish Solicitors

9th February 2017 | Law Society news , New lawyers

The Lawscot Foundation is a Scottish charity, which helps academically talented students from less advantaged backgrounds through their legal education journey. This means offering financial assistance, mentoring and other support during the law degree stage (known as the LLB) right through the diploma in professional legal practice.

There are a variety of ways in which you can support the foundation, whether that’s as a donor, a mentor, a fundraiser or a corporate sponsor. If you would like to find out how you could take an active role, we invite you to attend our information evening on Tuesday 21February, 6-8pm at the Law Society of Scotland’s offices.

Register to attend here.

Eilidh Wiseman, President of the Law Society of Scotland and Lindsey Jack, Director of The Student Experience and Equality & Diversity Co-ordinator at Edinburgh University will be the key speakers, providing more information about the charity, the role of our volunteer mentors, what we are trying to achieve and the variety of ways you can play an active role in the charity's growth. There will also be an opportunity to catch up with your colleagues over light refreshments.

Still in its early stages, the Lawscot Foundation has got off to an excellent start. Many of our friends and colleagues have already donated, showing their support for the next generation of Scottish solicitors. Activities such as Baublefest in December, captured your imaginations and inspired you to give generously.  We are keen to continue that momentum, working closely with our members, to promote equality and diversity across the profession.
