‘Smart collaboration’ comes to annual conference

19th June 2018

A Harvard Law professor is set to share the secrets of ‘smart collaboration’ at Leading Legal Excellence, our annual conference.

Dr Heidi K Gardner, bestselling author and former faculty member at Harvard Business School, has been confirmed as a keynote speaker for the annual gathering of Scottish legal professionals. She will explore how bringing down barriers and working across boundaries can help businesses gain a competitive edge and earn higher margins, inspire greater client loyalty and attract and retain the best talent.

Dr Gardner’s research focuses on leadership and collaboration in professional service firms. Her book Smart Collaboration: How Professionals and Their Firms Succeed by Breaking Down Silos, was published by Harvard Business Press last year.

The conference brings together speakers and delegates from the legal profession, business and the public sector to explore the opportunities, challenges and risks faced by law firms, businesses and organisations in Scotland.

The wide-ranging programme includes workshops and streamed sessions covering a wide range of topics including innovation and technology; Scotland and Brexit; and diversity and equality.

Other keynote speakers include Baroness Hale of Richmond, President of the Supreme Court, who was recently named on the Vogue '25 Women Shaping 2018' list. Baroness Hale will consider the contribution of Scottish cases to developing UK law.

Leading Legal Excellence takes place on Friday 26 October at the EICC in Edinburgh. Further speakers will be announced in due course and the full programme will be published in the coming weeks.

There is currently a 20% early bird discount on all annual conference tickets. Everyone with an interest in law and business is welcome to attend.
