Boost your skillset, bolster your business and back your community Gain expert AML advice for a donation to your local foodbank

13th January 2021 | Law Society news , Regulation

As the professional body for Scottish solicitors, we are acutely aware of the increasing pressures the legal profession is under when it comes to protecting yourselves and your clients from criminals seeking to abuse your legitimate legal services, for illegitimate purposes.  It’s no easy task at the best of times, let alone when practitioners are working hard to keep their businesses afloat in the midst of a global pandemic.

So when our colleagues at Lockton got in touch about a generous offer from Teal Compliance, promising to share the benefits of 15 years’ worth of anti-money laundering experience over the course of a week in exchange for a charitable donation, we were keen to share the details.

Amy Bell, is the founder of Teal Compliance, a team of expert legal consultants who help law firms comply with the necessary rules and the regulations. A solicitor herself, Amy has been working in the field of anti-money laundering for the last 15 years. She is also a member and former chair of the Law Society’s Money Laundering Task Force, and co-author of the book – Solicitors and Money Laundering (4th Edition).

To tap into Amy and her team’s expertise and gain a full understanding of everything you need to comply with the Money Laundering Regulations, simply email Teal Compliance by 17 February 2021 with your details (see drop down below) and make a donation to your local foodbank. So in addition to boosting your skillset and bolstering your business against criminal misuse, you’ll get that feel good factor from supporting your local community.

What does the package include?

If you sign up, you will gain access to Teal Compliance’s significant experience and expertise in the area of AML.

By the end of the week’s programme you will have a full understanding of what you need to have in place to comply with the Money Laundering Regulations and how to check it works.

You will receive an introductory email from Amy, and then a series of daily pointers and checklists covering the following areas:
• firm wide Risk Assessment
• onboarding clients
• ongoing monitoring
• testing your processes
• demonstrating compliance

The idea is that in exchange for this programme, you make a donation to your local foodbank. Teal will share their knowledge, and you will share some food with those people in your community who need it most. It’s a win-win!

You can also receive free access to a Proceeds Of Crime Act (POCA) masterclass simply by sending Amy proof of your charitable donation

How do I sign up?

Drop Amy and her team an email at hello@tealcompliance.com to let them know that you are keen to sign up. Remember to provide your name, firm name and the best email and phone number on which to contact you.

What would the package normally cost?

It would normally cost £180 but as part of this limited offer, you can take advantage of all the benefits in exchange for a donation to your local foodbank.

When Teal receive your email, they will add you to their database and you will receive five daily emails from Amy commencing Monday 22 February. Each email will include a guide and accompanying checklist.

There is an additional opportunity to have a call with a member of team Teal to summarise and review the information provided over the week. If you would like to take advantage of this added benefit, simply respond to one of the daily emails asking for a call and Amy’s team will get in touch and arrange a suitable time to catch up.

On behalf of Team Teal, we are looking forward to hearing from you and look forward to sharing our particular expertise with our colleagues across the Scottish legal profession. We believe in sharing what we have, and we’re delighted to be able to do that with your support.
Amy Bell
