AGM elects SYLA committee for 2017-18

2nd June 2017

Laura Meldrum has been re-elected president of the Scottish Young Lawyers' Association, as the committee for 2017-18 was chosen last night.

The executive committee now comprises Ms Meldrum, an employment solicitor at Anderson Strathern, as president, Lucy Thornton (Anderson Strathern) as vice president, Jessica Weir (Brodies) as secretary, and Dominique McErlane (Brodies) as treasurer. Emma Boffey of CMS remains on the committee as past president.

Other committee members elected were Zara Clark (DAC Beachcroft), Ayla Iridag (Clyde & Co), Jay Goodwillie (Dalling Solicitors), Ilaria Moretti (Anderson Strathern) and Laila Kennedy (third year law student, University of Aberdeen).

Ms Meldrum said: “I’m delighted to have elected as president of the SYLA for a second term. In my first year as president of the Association we have seen Brexit, Donald Trump elected as President of the United States and the calling of a snap general election in the UK… what will the next year bring?”

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank the outgoing committee members – Laura Wylie (BLM), Jonathan Tait (Ennova Law), Evonne Morrison (Inksters), Joanne Baker (DWF), and Holly Archibald (Adam & Co) – for their input and enthusiasm over the course of the past year."
