Associate appointments at Balfour+Manson

10th November 2014 | careers

Two associate appointments have been announced for the Edinburgh headquarters of law firm Balfour+Manson.

Alan Gilfillan and Linda Walker join the commercial and family law teams respectively.

Mr Gilfillan will work alongside partner and head of commercial and charities, John Hodge, on advising the firm’s commercial and charity clients. Joining from Gillespie Macandrew, he has extensive experience on guiding clients on business sales, acquisitions and intra-group reorganisations, as well as establishing ownership structures and protecting intellectual property rights. He is also experienced in advising charities, and was seconded for six months to the regulator OSCR.

Ms Walker is highly experienced in all aspects of family law including cohabitation, divorce and dissolution of civil partnerships, residence, contact, adoption and aliment as well as general civil court work. She will work closely with head of family law Shona Smith.

The firm also welcomes Isabel Hamilton, an experienced accountant who will work in the tax team with chartered tax adviser and solicitor Margaret Ross.

Chairman Elaine Motion commented: “Alan, Linda and Isabel joining us continues to strengthen the services we offer our clients already. Going into 2015, the firm is well placed to ensure clients continue to receive excellent advice and personalised service they have come to expect from Balfour+Manson."
