Brodies takes Regional Law Firm title at The Lawyer awards

1st July 2016

Scottish solicitors Brodies has been named Regional Law Firm of the Year at the annual awards run by The Lawyer magazine.

The panel of judges, which include several managing partners from international firms, singled out the largest Scottish-based law firm for its strong strategic management and sustained financial growth, adding that it is “a firm that has taken charge of its own destiny and projects confidence and vision for its people and clients”.

During the year in review, Brodies achieved the highest number of top tier practice areas and "leading individual" lawyer rankings in the independent legal directories of a Scottish practice, opened a new office in Glasgow and recorded an 11.2% increase in turnover to £57.9m, marking the firm’s fifth consecutive year of revenue and profit growth.

Bill Drummond, managing partner of Brodies, commented: "We are pleased to have received this accolade, which reflects the commitment of all at our firm and the continued support of clients in Scotland, the rest of the UK and overseas."

Law Firm of the Year at the awards was Clyde & Co, which moved into Scotland during the year by mergng with Simpson & Marwick. Judges were impressed by the firm’s growth in the past few years and its development from being a UK-focused insurance practice.
