Commercial court seminar seeks to promote dialogue

3rd April 2015 | civil litigation

Users of the Court of Session commercial court, and others with an interest, are being invited to register for a seminar being organised "in order to further develop the court’s engagement with court users".

To be chaired jointly by the Lord President and Lord Justice Clerk, with the participation of all the commercial court judges, the seminar will discuss a number of matters relating to commercial law and procedure.

Topics will include encouraging settlement; the use of abbreviated pleadings; the paperless court, witness statements and affidavits; and the construction of contracts.

The seminar will be held on Monday 6 July 2015 from 9am-1pm, at the Mackenzie Building, Old Assembly Close, 172 High Street, Edinburgh. Those wishing to attend should register their interest by sending an email to the commercial court clerks at commercialseminar@scotcourts.gov.uk by no later than 4pm on Friday 15 May 2015. Confirmation of attendance will be received from the commercial clerks by Friday 29 May 2015.
