Corporate partner heads 19 promotions at Brodies

12th June 2017 | careers

A round of 19 promotions was announced today by legal firm Brodies, headed by the appointment of corporate lawyer Paul McLaughlin to partner.

There are also eight new managing associates and 10 who advance to associate.

Mr McLaughlin, who joined Brodies in 2005, is a member of the firm’s funds group, specialising in advising UK-based and overseas clients and intermediaries on private fund formation, corporate reorganisation and joint venture structuring matters. His promotion brings to 93 the number of partners at Brodies, the largest Scottish-headquartered legal firm.

The new managing associates are: Fiona Cameron, Billy Kay (both banking & finance), Andy Forsyth, Keith Kilburn (both insurance & risk), Charles Hay, Elizabeth Ward (both commercial property), Andy Nolan (commercial services division) and Ali Rimell (commercial services division and energy & infrastructure).

Promoted to associate are Duncan Cathie (corporate & commercial), Breda Deeley, Jenna McCosh (both commercial property), Liam Lane (employment), Ramsay Hall, Gemma McKinlay (both public law & regulatory), Kate McLeish (land & rural business), Rachel Rennie (energy & infrastructure), Monica Ross (business disputes & asset recovery), and Zoe Wray (family).

Managing partner Bill Drummond commented: “These well-deserved promotions recognise the specialist skills of the lawyers concerned, their in-depth knowledge of the sectors in which they operate and their willingness to go above and beyond on behalf of clients. I wish them every success as they embark on the next stage of their careers at Brodies and build on their achievements."

Brodies has also appointed Jennifer Wilkie as an associate in its family law team, based in its Edinburgh office. An accredited specialist in family law and an accredited mediator, she joins from Anderson Strathern.
