Date set for fifth Cancer Research Racquet fundraiser

3rd May 2019 | Charities

Details have been announced of the 2019 Scottish fundraiser for Cancer Research Racquet, the international group of US, UK and EU legal professionals who raise money for cancer research.

A champagne garden party will be held in Edinburgh on the evening of Friday 24 May 2019. This will be the fifth fundraiser event that the group has held in Scotland. This year, the event will once again raise funds jointly for Cancer Research Racquet and local charity, Marie Curie.

Many within the group have fought cancer. They, their families and friends have benefited from recent advances in drug development and treatments, and now organise events across the world to raise funds for further research to benefit others. So far, the group has funded six research grants for scientists to research various types of cancer and treatment. The group is well on its way to funding a seventh, which will focus on breast cancer research.

This year’s event is coordinated by Emma Johnston of Pinsent Masons, Emma Boffey of CMS, Jennifer Talbot of DLA Piper and Emma Cunningham of Baillie Gifford. They commented: “We are delighted to return to the beautiful surrounds of the Eglinton and Glencairn Gardens for this year’s champagne garden party, which promises to be, once again, a spectacular evening for a great cause. Last year's event sold out, raising over £4,000 for the charities, and we would like to make this year’s event the biggest yet. We are encouraging all involved in the legal profession in Scotland to help support this event and come out for what promises to be a great night, raising money for two great causes.”

The garden party will feature live music, entertainment, food, a raffle, and of course, lots of champagne. Tickets are priced at £25 per person and can be purchased via this link.
