DWF sets up community charitable foundation

2nd December 2015 | Charities

Local charities and projects are to benefit from a new charitable foundation set up by national law firm DWF.

The DWF Foundation has the sole aim of providing funds, resources and support to help local communities with action on education, employability, health and wellbeing, and homelessness. Support will be given to charities and projects that tackle specific community issues, help voluntary and community groups to become more effective and efficient, encourage involvement of those who are otherwise excluded, and enable young people to develop skills for the benefit of the community.

The first grant applications will be considered in the new year.

Earlier this year DWF won a national business award for its 5 STAR futures education programme, for aspirational young people from low income backgrounds (click here for report). The foundation will continue to build on this activity, reaching a wider pool of local charities.

Jim Davies, DWF Foundation’s chair of trustees, commented: “For many years now the CSR teams in DWF’s regional offices have been passionately supporting our local communities and, with the launch of the foundation, we’re looking to carry on their wonderful work and do even more. We’re greatly encouraged by the support we’ve received so far and we’re very excited about the opportunities going forward.”
