Employment partner joins as Thorntons expands in Edinburgh

18th April 2018 | careers , practice management

Thorntons solicitors has announced a partner appointment in its Edinburgh office as it plans to move to larger premises in the city.

Chris Phillips has joined the Dundee-headquartered firm from Loch Employment Law. He has been a partner in successive firms since 2000 and has been accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as an employment law specialist since 2005.

His areas of expertise include employment and discrimination law, professional regulatory law and administrative law linked to public inquiries.

He is also chairman of Fife College Foundation and an external examiner in employment law for the University of Dundee.

Thorntons will move later this year from its current Melville Street base to larger offices in Citypoint, Haymarket. First opened in 2004, its Edinburgh office now has more than 50 people.

Chairman Colin Graham commented: “This move is significant for us and is a consequence of our growth over the last five years.

“Our new suite of offices at Citypoint will offer a more spacious environment for our people and clients and will allow for the continued growth of Thorntons as a legal firm and employer in Edinburgh.

“We’re delighted to welcome Chris as partner and a key member of our employment team in Edinburgh. His experience and expertise will be a real asset to Thorntons and our clients.”
