Father to daughter Stonehaven handover for Aberdeen Considine

21st June 2018 | careers , practice management

Aberdein Considine's co-founder Iain Considine is to step down from his role as a senior partner at the firm to become a consultant.

Mr Considine, who set up the firm with Harvey Aberdein in 1981, will also step down from his current position as the partner in charge of the firm’s Stonehaven branch in October – with the role being filled by his daughter Laura, also a partner in the practice.

From its beginnings Aberdein Considine has grown to its present 20 offices and around 450 staff, describing itself as Scotland’s largest solicitor and lettings agent. Mr Aberdein retired as managing partner in late 2014.

Mr Considine began his legal career with Edmonds & Ledingham after qualifying in 1975, and moved to Roy Grant & Co before teaming up with Harvey Aberdein. His daughter joined Aberdein Considine on qualifying in 2005 and worked at the firm’s Banchory and Aboyne offices before moving to Perth in 2007 to help establish a base there. She returned to the North East at the end of last year.

Iain Considine commented: "It’s been a huge honour to have been part of the Aberdein Considine story from the start, and a real privilege to have worked with so many great people over the last 37 years.

"At the time we had no idea that the firm would grow into what it is today, but it’s clear it’s in great hands and I’ll still be very much involved with clients and doing my bit to help.

"Laura knows the area and the community very well and I’m proud she’ll be the new partner in charge in Stonehaven."

Laura Considine added: "Aberdein Considine has very much been my dad’s life’s work and it’s definitely been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I’m very proud of all that he has achieved and I’ll do everything I can to continue to build on his legacy."
