Finalists announced for Scottish Legal Awards

12th January 2017

Finalists have been announced for the 2017 Scott + Co Scottish Legal Awards.

Eleven individuals and teams from 40 Scottish firms have been selected by the judging panel following what the organisers said was the highest number of nominations ever received in the competition.

Six firms are contesting the Firm of the Year accolade: DLA Piper (Scotland), Gillespie Macandrew, Harper Macleod, MacRoberts, Thorntons and Clyde & Co, while the Lawyer of the Year will be chosen from Simon Allison of Blackadders, Aamer Anwar of Aamer Anwar & Co, and Stuart Munro of Livingstone Brown.

Among the other categories this year, Innovation in Practice is a new addition to highlight measures adopted by private practice firms to stay ahead of the competition.

The winners from the 14 categories of finalists released today, along with bthe judges' choice of Managing Partner of the Year and this year's recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award, will be announced at a black tie awards dinner in Edinburgh on Thursday 30 March.

Shonaig Macpherson, chair of the 12 member judging panel, commented: “The quality and quantity of entries in the Scottish Legal Awards has broken all records and inevitably this has led to some very difficult decisions. However, as these awards measure the success of the Scottish legal industry, we are certain that last year was a very positive period for Scottish lawyers who have worked tirelessly to gain some outstanding results. We look forward to shining a light on all our winners in a few weeks’ time.”
