Four associate promotions at BTO

6th April 2017 | careers

BTO solicitors has announced a series of associate promotions across the firm from a variety of teams.

Four senior solicitors – Eileen Sherry, Jennifer King, David Cairns and Andrew Phillips – have all been appointed associates.

Ms Sherry, who joined the firm in August 2011, works in BTO’s insurers’ representation team. She specialises in property, product liability, policy and multi-jurisdictional claims, and has extensive civil litigation experience.

Part of the professional discipline and clinical defence team, Ms King assists in representing medical and dental professionals before the General Medical Council and the General Dental Council, and in defending clinical negligence claims raised in the Sheriff Court and Court of Session, as well as pursuing and defending employment tribunal claims.

Mr Cairns joined BTO’s health and safety, regulatory and criminal practice in June 2015. An experienced defence solicitor, his particular area of expertise is health and safety, environmental, financial, road traffic and other criminal and regulatory investigations/prosecutions. He also appears regularly at fatal accident inquiries.

Also experienced in criminal law, Mr Phillips works in the same practice team, with a particular specialism in financial crime, confiscation proceedings and associated civil proceedings. He also assists with health and safety and environmental matters and often represents clients involved in fatal accident inquiries.

BTO’s chairman, Alan Borthwick, commented: “It is great news that we can announce the promotion of these talented individuals and recognise their contribution to the firm and to the clients with whom they work. These promotions are a reflection of the vast range of expertise that has ensured BTO's ongoing success.”
