Four from McClure Naismith join Wright Johnston & Mackenzie

2nd September 2015 | careers

Two partners and two other solicitors from McClure Naismith, the law firm which went into administration last week, have joined Wright, Johnston & Mackenzie's Glasgow office.

Colin Millar, who was head of McClure's corporate team and undertakes work in food and drink, intellectual property, engineering and technology, along with commercial contracts, charity and the third sector, joins as a partner, along with Stewart King who works in commercial property for clients including landowners, developers, banks, charities, and PLCs.

Julie Terrey, whose experience includes trusts, charities, inheritance tax planning, executries and residential property, joins as an associate in private client; and Stephen Grant, who has expertise in information technology, intellectual property and technology, joins as corporate assistant.

Wright, Johnston & Mackenzie chief executive Liam Entwistle commented: “I’m very pleased to be further strengthening our corporate, commercial property and private client sectors with such an excellent calibre of individuals. These appointments are part of our new strategy to grow the business in Scotland and reflect our desire to be a destination firm for attracting and retaining talented individuals who will bring additional knowledge and expertise that will be valued by our clients. We are still working hard in pursuit of growth and we expect to see further developments in the coming year.”

The appointments mark the biggest lateral hire in the recent history of Wright, Johnston & Mackenzie, which now employs 20 partners and over 60 fee earners across its offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Inverness.

  • Four partners in McClure Naismith's London office – Andrew Williamson, Kit Stenning, Nils Reid and Jim Mackie, along with associates Callum Robertson and Deirdre O’Neill – have joined London firm Marriott Harrison, Mr Stenning and Mr Mackie as consultants. London partner Ashok Ghosh has joined virtual firm Excello Law.
