Glasgow IP/IT specialist among Pinsent Masons partner promotions

21st March 2018 | careers

A Glasgow-based intellectual property and IT specialist is one of 23 promotions to partner announced by international legal firm Pinsent Masons.

David Woods, who is dual qualified to practise in Scotland and in England & Wales, specialises in disputes concerning trade mark infringement, copyright infringement and passing off, and in advising on brand and domain name issues. He has acted for a broad range of retail, technology, energy and financial services organisations and has significant experience of large scale litigation and of advising on alternative forms of dispute resolution.

Across the firm, one in four of those promoted are female and of the individuals promoted, almost 90% specialise in its five global sectors of energy, financial services, infrastructure, real estate and advanced manufacturing and technology. Almost one third are based outside the UK.

All the promotions take effect from 1 May 2018.

Pinsent Masons chairman of Scotland and Northern Ireland, Richard Masters, commented: "I am delighted to welcome David to the partnership and his promotion is a reflection of his ongoing contribution to maintaining the firm’s reputation for high level dispute resolution and arbitration services. His years of experience in Scottish and English courts and his litigation skills are widely respected by our clients working across the technology, media and telecommunications sectors."

Richard Foley, senior partner at Pinsent Masons added: "This is our largest promotions round in three years and demonstrates that we are a growing and increasingly global business."
