Law Society of Scotland signs Brewin Dolphin as wealth management partner

16th July 2018 | law society of scotland

Leading investment and financial planning firm Brewin Dolphin is to join the Law Society of Scotland’s exclusive partnership programme, providing expertise and support for Scottish solicitors and their clients.

The Law Society programme develops value-adding partnerships with industry-leading organisations and shares knowledge to support best practice and provide guidance to its members.

Paul Mosson, Executive Director of Member Services and Engagement at the Law Society of Scotland, said: “Private client wealth management has become an increasingly important area of work for solicitors, as more of us seek to preserve, grow and ultimately pass on our assets.

“I’m delighted to announce that, following a competitive tender process, Brewin Dolphin will become our wealth management partner. We were impressed by the firm’s thorough understanding and experience of the Scottish legal market, compelling strategic vision and extensive knowledge of key practice areas.

“Working with Brewin Dolphin will allow us to provide valuable insight and information for those within our membership who are looking after the affairs of individual clients and trustees, helping them provide much sought-after expertise and advice.”

The new partnership, due to start in September 2018, will allow Brewin Dolphin to position itself exclusively as the Law Society of Scotland’s wealth management partner. The firm will provide support for solicitors working in this area through CPD events and practice area updates, focusing on the latest developments in wills and estate management, trusts, charity work and tax matters.

Matt Sullivan, National Head of Professional Services at Brewin Dolphin, said: “This partnership is another important step for Brewin Dolphin, as we continually look to expand and evolve our offering to the legal profession. Joining the Law Society of Scotland’s partnership programme is an exciting prospect and follows our appointment of recently-retired family law specialist, Anne Hall Dick, as a consultant to our matrimonial team.

“Since launching our professional services offering in Scotland 18 months ago, the team has grown from strength to strength. It has successfully provided regulated financial advice to solicitors and their clients on a range of matters, helping them to make important and complex decisions about their futures.”
